In 2022, organic agriculture experienced significant growth worldwide. This report provides a comprehensive view of the expansion of organic farming areas, the increase in the number of producers, and the behavior of the organic products market.

Expansion of Organic Agricultural Land by Region
The area of organic cultivation reached 96.4 million hectares. This significant increase was primarily driven by Oceania, which leads the regions with the largest organic farming area, representing 55% of the global total. Europe and Latin America contribute 19% and 10%, respectively.

Expansion of Organic Agricultural Land by Country

As clearly shown in the following chart, Australia leads the list of the ten countries with the largest areas of organic agricultural land, with 53 million hectares. It is followed by India, with 4.7 million hectares, and Argentina, with 4.1 million hectares.
It is important to note that Argentina remains among the top three countries worldwide in terms of organically cultivated land area.

Growth of Organic Producers
The number of organic producers rose to 4.5 million. This 26.6% increase compared to 2021 highlights strong growth in the adoption of organic farming practices.

Organic Products Market
Retail sales of organic products reached nearly 135 billion euros. The United States dominated the market with 58.6 billion euros, followed by Germany and China. Despite the slowdown in Europe, the North American market showed an increase.
