LETIS Participates in Panel Discussion on Responsible Water Use at Fruit Logistica

In acknowledgment of the rising significance of water scarcity, the GLOBALG.A.P Secretariat arranged a panel discussion addressing the responsible use of water, featuring participation from LETIS.

This insightful discussion took place today at Fruit Logistica in Berlin, providing stakeholders with a platform to exchange perspectives and explore innovative solutions in fruit and vegetable production.

The event brought together experts from GLOBALGAP, producers, various GLOBALGAP Community Members, certification bodies like LETIS, and a non-governmental organization working in the sector. The comprehensive discussion encompassed both legal and environmental aspects, delving into the role of certification in implementing and showcasing responsible water use at the farm level.

Simultaneously, the latest iteration of the group’s Sustainable Program for Irrigation and Groundwater Use (Spring Version 2) add-on, launched in September, underscores the GlobalGAP Secretariat’s dedication to promoting responsible water use. This version introduces simplified implementation rules, stringent principles, and criteria regarding legal compliance. It also addresses critical issues such as the assessment of water risks and objectives, effective management of water resources, environmental stewardship, protection of water sources, and traceability.
